Maintenance & Support — devexpertsstudio

The Problem

Unmaintained software degrades quietly. Security patches lapse. Dependencies rot. Small bugs compound until one of them breaks in front of a customer, at which point there's no one on staff who can fix it quickly.

  • No one on the team owns "keep this running" as an actual job
  • Dependency and security updates are months behind, because nobody's watching
  • The last person who understood the deploy process left, and nobody's replaced that knowledge

What's Included

Monitoring and alerting

not a promise to notice if you happen to mention something broke.

Security and dependency updates

applied on a schedule, not reactively.

Bug fixes against a stated response time

this is the headline metric on this page, not delivery time.

A named point of contact

not a rotating support queue.

Monthly reporting

on what was patched, fixed, and watched.

Who It's For

Perfect for

  • Companies with a live product and no in-house engineering bandwidth to keep it running
  • Founders who shipped an MVP elsewhere and need it kept alive without hiring
  • Teams that just finished a build with us and want continuity without a new specification

Outcomes

  • Security patches and dependency updates applied on a schedule, not discovered too late
  • A stated response time when something breaks, instead of an unanswered support inbox
  • One named point of contact who already knows the system, not a new ticket every time

How This Engagement Runs

Survey

Before the retainer starts, we audit the current system: what it runs on, what's outdated, what's fragile.

Specification

The audit findings, the response-time tier, and the cover window are written into the agreement.

Build

Ongoing: patches, fixes and monitoring, delivered against the response-time commitment for your tier.

Verification

Every fix is tested before deployment; the monthly report is your written account of what changed.

Handover

If you ever leave the retainer, everything patched and documented stays yours — there's nothing to hand back.

Capability Example

An illustrative engagement, written from how we work. Client details are withheld and no outcome figures are claimed.

What we build with

  • Sentry
  • Grafana
  • GitHub Actions
  • Dependency scanning
  • Incident response tooling

Frequently asked

What counts as "included" bug-fix hours, versus new scope?
Fixing existing behaviour that's broken is covered by your tier's included hours. New features are scoped and priced separately — the monthly report always states which is which.
Can we start on Essential and move up later?
Yes — tier changes take effect from the next billing cycle, no penalty either way.
What if we didn't build the product with you?
Common, and fine. The initial Survey audit exists specifically to get us up to speed on a system we didn’t build.
Why does Critical cost more than triple Essential?
Extended-hours cover (Mon–Sat) and a 2-hour response commitment require dedicated on-call capacity, not just faster triage of the same queue — the price reflects the actual cover, not a markup.
How do we cancel?
30 days' written notice, no minimum term beyond that. Stated in full in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Someone watching it, so you don't have to.
